We opened the doors to Parker Place to the greater Annapolis community on Saturday, July 28th with much anticipation. Our staff and instructors could not wait to share all the wonderful programs that Parker Place has to offer. By the end of the day, we all agreed the day was a grand opening success!
Fun from the Start
As our first attendees arrived they were welcomed into our cheerful office. Music was already playing and the Hip Hop mini-class was just beginning. Children of all ages joined in the fun one by one, following the moves of our instructor, Margareta. It was hard for anyone to resist getting into the action. Some even came up with their own creative routines!
As Margareta wrapped up, Emily began her KidCircuit. After all that activity, some kids needed a drink and a breather and found themselves at the colorful yogurt parfait bar. Children and adults alike chose fruits from every color of the rainbow to adorn their yogurt cups and then move on to the next activity. As the room filled there were children planting pumpkin seeds, making an “I ate the rainbow!” placemat to bring home and learning about all the kid-focused nutrition classes our dietitian, Becky Jacobs, will be leading. Younger children were playing with our plush fruits and vegetable baskets and older kids were decorating river rocks with words of inspiration.
Moving and Grooving Fun
Once again, the music ramped up and Amanda lead the group in a rousing Kids Zumba class. Parents enjoyed watching the energy that filled the room and while their kids cut a rug they learned more about all the programs and membership packages that Parker Place has to offer. The dancing continued with our multi-talented staff member, Anna, who squeezed in some freeze dance in-between greeting new families and keeping the healthy snacks plentiful for everyone. The activities wrapped up with a dynamic Warrior kids obstacle course lead by our certified trainer, Devin. All eyes were on the kids trying to balance and jump on all kinds of fun equipment.
Grand Opening Success
All in all, it was an exciting day of fun for the whole family. Many new families experienced what it will be like to be part of the Parker Place community. It was a true gift for me to see our space full of people and activity and I cannot to wait to welcome everyone back at our upcoming classes. Follow our Facebook page and visit the website for updates on classes and schedules in the near future.
PS – Thanks to Jen Lowe for taking all the great photos at our grand opening!
