Elizabeth A. Parker, MD - Founder & Medical Director

Elizabeth Parker MD

Dr. Elizabeth Parker is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist who established Parker Place, A Children’s Health and Wellness Center, in 2018.

After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the College of William and Mary, Dr. Parker went on to study at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia, where she developed her love of pediatrics. As a native of New Jersey, she was thrilled to match in the Department of Pediatrics at New York University for her Pediatric Residency program. There she was drawn to the specialty of endocrinology, where she participated in clinical research evaluating an ideal screening test for detecting diabetes risk in overweight children and teens.

Dr. Parker continued her career development at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she completed a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Her research focus at the NIH was on growth, specifically the endocrine factors affecting growth plate cartilage. Though bench research proved to be interesting and challenging, Dr. Parker decided her true passion was providing direct patient care within in a clinical setting.

Over the next nine years, Dr. Parker learned a great deal about practical, clinical pediatric endocrinology as an attending physician in the Department of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Though the time there was rewarding, Dr. Parker felt she would thrive in a different environment, one in which she could spend more time working with families on lifestyle changes that would benefit their children's health as an important part of their medical care. She opened Parker Place, A Children’s Health and Wellness Center, in 2018 with the hope of bringing this holistic type of care to the greater Annapolis community.

In her free time, Dr. Parker enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and can often be found watching Little League or attending dance recitals. She enjoys being outside, and especially enjoys the opportunity to be in and around the water in Anne Arundel County. In addition, her family takes to the mountains of Western Maryland every so often where they enjoy hiking, biking and skiing throughout the year.
