KARA HOEGERL, OTR/L

Kara is a licensed occupational therapist who offers traditional therapy evaluations and feeding evaluations for patients 6 months to 21 years of age. Kara is passionate about helping children become the best versions of themselves by using a variety of therapeutic interventions. 

Originally from Lawrence, Kansas, Kara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2016 and Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2018 at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. She began her career in a specialized therapeutic preschool where she gained experience working with a variety of diagnoses including, autism, sensory processing disorder, rare genetic disorders, feeding disorders, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and ADHD. During this time, she also assisted in developing an Adaptive Swim program for children with special needs as well as feeding groups for picky eaters using the Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Feeding Approach.

 Over the years, Kara has gained extensive experience through continuing education using Conscious Discipline, mindfulness-based approaches and reflex integration to help children and teens with anxiety-based disorders, executive functioning difficulties and social emotional dysregulation.  

 In her free time Kara enjoys practicing yoga, playing tennis, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with her fiancé and golden retriever.
