BECCA ALLISON, OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY STUDENT

Becca Allison is a current doctoral student at Murphy Deming College of Health Sciences, where she is pursuing her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy (OTD) degree. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and a minor in Disability Studies. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate time, Becca has worked as a respite caregiver for teens and young children, developing meaningful relationships while providing support that honors each individual’s passions and abilities.

Becca is currently completing her Doctoral Capstone experience at Parker Place under the supervision of Katie Hird, OTD, OTR/L. During this experience, she is developing and implementing group-based interventions for adolescents participating in lifestyle medicine services. She is passionate about fostering a safe, supportive environment where participants can explore challenges and successes, while developing strategies to carry over healthy habits into their daily routines and natural environments.

Originally from Lynchburg, Virginia, Becca grew up on a farm before attending college. In her free time, she enjoys reading, hanging out with friends and family, spending time with her cat, Bubba, and staying active. She is currently training for her first marathon and has enjoyed exploring the Annapolis area during her runs!
