Public Classes + Events
In addition to the wellness programs we offer for schools and community organizations, as well as for informal small groups, we are thrilled to open our doors to all families in the greater Annapolis area for a variety of public classes and events. Here’s what’s coming up here at Parker Place:
Everybody Dance is a super fun, Zumba-style dance class designed for kids aged 7+. Whether your child is just “dance-curious” or is “deeply dance inspired”, this class will introduce him or her to the basic skills and foundation of classical dance class. Classes begin with a traditional warm-up including body isolation stretches and repetitious dance steps that cruise into mini routines and dance sequences set to all different musical genres. No dance experience required! Parents may drop off their child for this class or relax in our comfortable waiting area.
Dates & Times: Wednesdays in March (6th, 13th, 20th and 27th) from 5:30-6:30pm
Age Range: Kids 7 & older
Cost: $18 per person per class
Grow Your Parenting Toolbox
Join us for a fantastic, honest, interactive workshop, led by Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor Maria Winters, that explores real day-to-day issues related to children’s’ emotional and behavioral well-being. We'll discuss how to address normal behavioral challenges, recognize red flags and know when to reach out for help. You'll fill up your parenting toolbox as you learn hands-on techniques and activities to help your kids boost their self-esteem, practice emotional self-regulation, and improve their connection and communication with you!

About Maria: Maria Winters is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Maryland Board Approved Supervisor in clinical counseling. She has a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and has worked in the mental health field for over 16 years providing individual, family and group counseling in Massachusetts, Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland. Maria’s work experience includes outpatient treatment, work in community clinics, foster care, and various children’s services as well as private practice. For the past 7 years, Maria has been conducting emergency psychological evaluations in a hospital setting. She also runs groups in a partial hospitalization program for both adults and adolescents as well as monthly support groups for women, and is an Adjunct Faculty at Anne Arundel Community College where she teaches courses in Psychology.
